The purpose of this assignment was to figure out how to convey a message through simple images using only black and white. The images needed to be able to be understood by anyone. Through this assignment I learned how to manipulate shapes to make larger images, and how to communicate effectively through graphics.
Assignment #2: Texture Grid
The purpose of this assignment was to learn to use the pen tool and to create and utilize texture in our designs. In the top row the only element we took into account was texture. In the middle row we also used positive and negative space, and in the bottom row we worked with tone.
Assignment #3: Color Wheel
In this assignment, we learned to utilize colors and the color wheel when designing. I really liked this project, it was a lot of fun. Though the pen work took a really long time, it turned out really well.
Assignment #4: Pop Art
In this assignment, we learned to utilize color schemes in our artwork. It was interesting to figure out how we could create the shadows and effect we wanted with a set color scheme. I like the way it turned out.
Assignment #5: Photo Mosaics
In this assignment, we used repetition to create a mosaic. I picked all green and brown pictures. And since my big picture was a tree. All the pictures had a go green theme.
Assignment #6: If I Crossed the Road
In this assignment, we had to create things out of other things. This project turned out really well. It was interesting to have to think of what else could stand in for a sun or a mouth, besides a sun and a mouth.
Assignment #7:Blend Yourself
In this assignment, we cropped ourselves into famous pictures or with famous people. The objective was to make it look natural and like we were already there. I used layer masks to cover up everything in my family picture but me and my two dogs, then I used a blur to blend myself into the background. I had fun blending my dogs into the classic post WWII picture.
Assignment #8: See What I'm Saying
The objective of this assignment was to learn to work with letters, and manipulate them into pictures. I like the black background and snowflakes in my design. Though next time, I would like to figure out what I'm going to to for the project a little earlier.
Assignment #9: Designing With Type
In this assignment we learned to manipulate type to show the elements of design. I liked my designs, I think they're interesting, and it was fun to make. Assignment #11: Photo + Text Manipulation
In this assignment, we took a poem or song we liked, then took a picture to go went with it, and convey the theme of the song. Then we had to put the two together in a interesting and visually pleasing way. I chose the song "O Music" by David Brunner, and the picture is one I took of the inside of Spivey Hall at Clayton State University.
Assignment #12: Alphabet Poster
In this assignment, we took our Alphabetography pictures and put them into a poster. This assignment and assignment #10 helped me to start seeing things in a different way, and to find letters in ordinary things. I really liked this assignment, putting the pictures we had taken into a poster let me see what they looked like all together.
Assignment #13: Exquisite Corpse
In this assignment, we were put into groups and each got a part of the body to design. This assignment helped us to work together. I really liked this assignment because it was fun not knowing what the others were designing then being surprised when we put it together. I designed the middle part of the picture. I was trying to make a coloring book version of prince charming. I had a lot of fun with this assignment.
Assignment #14: Career Poster
In this assignment, we used Indesign and our research process to create a poster for an organization. I wasn't a huge fan of this project, just because I like Illustrator more then Indesign, but it was a good learning experience and I'm happy with the product.

Assignment #15: Illuminated Manuscript
In this assignment, we put what we learned from the history podcasts to good use to make Illuminated manuscripts. I really Liked this project. We got to use our research and the stamps in photoshop. I think My favorite part of the final product is the "O", and the color scheme. I also liked getting to pick the text we wanted to use. I used the Original Snow White text.
Assignment #16: History Timeline
In this assignment, we put all our knowledge form the history podcasts into a timeline. I liked drawing the people and machines in indesign, but putting the text in was tedious. Looking back, I wish I had not left the big white space in the bottom right corner.
Assignment #17: Combination Mark
In this assignment, we got to work with pantone spot colors to make logos. We were given the names of three businesses and got to pick one to make a logo for. I chose Dr. Gleam Dentistry. I tried to make a logo that would look like the perfect teeth you'd get from going to see Dr. Gleam.

Assignment #18: Wordmark
In this assignment, we had to make a logo using only words. I really enjoyed this project. I chose to do two out of the three options. For the Mimi's Flower shoppe logo, i kinda wanted to make it look like a garden. And for in focus photography, I ised a blur effect on the "in" and the "photography" to make the "focus" the central focus point. I also took the lens from the camera in assignment #1 and put it in the O to emphasize the photography part of the business.
Assignment #19: Stationary Package
In this assignment, we had to pick a business and make a stationary package from it. I had a lot of fun with this project, though it was long. I used pantone colors to make the logo and the stuf fir the bussiness card to try to make the package look as unified as possible.
Assignment #20:Social Issue Poster
In this assignment, we got to make a poster for a social issue. We needed to research an issue, make a logo, find a picture related to it, trace it, and combine it all in a poster. I actually really liked this project.. and I really like my end product.
